1096 Tactical is written and managed by Tim Mckinney. Tim brings a background in combat sports, tactical training, and years of hands-on experience across the topics covered on this site. The content here reflects real knowledge, not keyboard commando theorizing.
The name 1096 is a nod to the ten-code used in law enforcement communications. It’s a reminder that the work here is grounded in real-world application, not abstraction.

We don’t publish to fill a content calendar. Every article goes through research, fact-checking, and a plain-language edit before it goes live. Where relevant, we cite authoritative sources including the VA, NIMH, and other established institutions. When something is opinion or personal experience, we say so.
